In this VETgirl online veterinary continuing education video, Amanda M. Shelby, RVT, VTS (Anesthesia & Analgesia) demonstrates how to clean a pulse oximeter probe, clip and cable. Ideally this detailed cleaning would be performed between every patient! You wouldn’t reuse an endotracheal tube without at least cleaning it…why not a pulse oximeter probe that commonly is placed on the tongue, lips, prepuce or vulva. Of course, manufacturer directions should be followed when available.
