Love the tips and tricks here. Positioning is key!!
Great tips! It’s hard when others don’t take PPE and safety as seriously.
Thanks for the tips!
Thank you for the great information.
Be efficient and practice your positioning to help prevent retakes. Patience is key, I used to hate how long it would take to tape animals into position but now that I am further in my career I appreciate how it saved me from so much radiation over time. Slow and steady wins the race- and ADVOCATE for more sedation, it is better for the patient and the staff!! LOVE THIS WEBINAR and want to see all of my students exposed to this great info!
this is really helpful!
I am very big on following all of these steps! Being as short staffed as we are, everyone gets more exposure than they should. So I try to stress as much as possible how important it is for my team to follow safety protocol and use the appropriate technique/positioning in the first try.
Thanks!
Measure, collimate and wear your PPE!
These were some great tips!!
and to collimate!! and use appropriate settings of kvp and ma(s) !!
Should also mention that dental rads are something to watch out for if your practice has those

Don’t forget your dosimeter badge and don’t accidentally wear it outside. 🙁
Wear the gloves, don’t just cover your hands with them as they protect against scatter radiation which comes from the patient and table. Great refresher.

Great read for me and learned so much from it!
Personal protections is always important. Great article
Great article. Always good to keep these in mind.
working with digital xray capabilities at a major trauma center can make taking xays a whole new experience. Being able to digitally edit the xrays not only cuts down on the amount of radiographs needed but also helps with proper, quick diagnosis.
Positioning appropriately definitely makes a huge difference
Also, remind coworkers that it is just not the sexual reproductive organs that are affected! It should be mandatory watching the story of the Radium Girls
Great tips thank you for the knowledge !
Good blog, thank you!
Great tips to remember!

Great tips! Short and to the point. Thank you!

Learning to improve my knowledge.
Good information
Positioning is definitely one of the hardest things I’ve found , I technically know how but I can’t transcribe that on the table. Great tips
I liked #5 the best.
Thanks for the great tips!!
Great tips. I feel that safety glasses is often overlooked in the Radiology Room. It is a piece of PPE that I feel staff undervalue.
PPE and remembering the basics is most important. Technique is difficult and may keep your attention and PPE easily becomes secondary but safety is more important.
Great Tips!

Great tips!
Good tips!
Useful tips! Not only are they tips but they are rules that I go by anytime that I am taking x-rays. Chemical restraint can become your best friend, meaning not only aids in the ability to proper position, but also ensures for less retakes that are requested.
Great tips!
Excellent reminders!!
Great tips! My fave, “Do not fear the power of sedation”.
Great tips!
Short and sweet! I had a rad tech at Radys hospital tell me daughter she didn’t need a lead apron on for her foot xray.. and he told her to hold her own toes apart!! What you don’t know you don’t know… and safety is so important when it comes to longevity in this field.
Safety first! Great reminders!
I agree, sedation is your friend! Not only do you reduce stress on the pet and your techs, you get great images and can flex joints without the patient resisting you.
PPE is important!! I have been able to identify the technicians involved by their rings tho….. in the past of course!
Very helpful tips, thank you!
